Some idea changes. . . .

So, I have (obviously!) been thinking of my NaNo piece (OMG!!!! 5 more days!! SQUEEE!), and have decided to make some very small, but critical changes to the plot.

-Bai Ze will play a more and more vital role in the tale
-this Mysterious Man" will be found out as a Chosen, probably in the sequal, who has managed to figure out how to summon other Elementals
-in the second book (why I am planning all this now? LOL!), the HuliJing will also play a more vital role and she also gains the ability to summon creatures
-I think my Thai people will now be Indian (from Inda, not Native American Indians. :P). I have made a new friend on QQ from India who is also interested in all the Indian mythologies and legends and who already agreed to help me with stuff.
-The reason why this "Mysterious Man" is attackign people and draining energy and whatnot is to control mroe and more Elementals, and to also find the best way to open up the other realm into this world (the other realm being the place where in our belief is where strange beings and creatures roam such as like, Heaven, Hell, or the Thai Hamapan (sp?) forest. . . all these weak spots where these creatures live).

Ok,. back to work. . . **zip**

WORKABLE STORYLINE (vs. 2)

PROLOUGE:
Elizabeth at age 8 is in Mexico on holiday. She breaks away from the tour group and within minutes is lost in the deep jungles of the Yuccatan Penninsula. She hears a racket nearby and sees a small lizard/dragon attacking a little yellow canary-like bird with a brilliant red gem in its head. Elizabeth fights off the lizard and saves the bird, who flies off. Elizabeth is found.

CHAPTER 1:
Elizabeth, after several years, discovered her new little yellow bird friend is called a Carbunkle, and has become a good companion for her. Now at age 24, she’s moved to Zhongshan, China, through an english program to teach english. It’s the end of the first day of class, and an exhausted and still somewhat jet-lagged Elizabeth packs up her things when she gets a strange chill despite the deep heat and humidity. Seconds later, a very strange, alluring Chinese woman smoking a cigeratte walks by and glances in, giving Elizabeth a very strange look. She’s saved when her mobile rings. It’s her parents back in NY seeing how things are, and telling her that they’ve read of strange killings in southern China recently and to be careful.

CHAPTER 2:
During the first week, as Elizabeth tries to adapt to the new city, culture and customs, she hears rumors from her students and the other foreign teachers of some murders happening around Zhongshan city. Also hears rumors from the male foreign teachers of falling into lust over one of the Chinese teachers. Elizabeth feels strange about the murders, and the woman whom she sees again, but when she speaks of them to Carbunkle, he merely falls asleep. Bored already with the university and wanting to see more of the city, Elizabeth goes out wandering and quickly gets lost among the similar streets and alleys. When she asks for directions back to the university, no one can understand her, or responds in Chinese, even the taxi drivers who look somewhat villainous. And her mobile’s been stolen so she can’t call anyone. Not knowing what else to do, Elizabeth wanders in the dark, trying to find her way back. As she passes a small dark village street, she is jumped by strange, fuzzy-looking white-green forms. Carbunkle goes on the attack, but he’s a little bird. As she turns and tries to fight, she sees a rather familiar figure in the shadow of a street light, and then the next moment, she notices a large fox with many tails has jumped into the fray and is attacking the weird beings. Elizabeth gains an opening and runs back to her dormitory, coincidently knowing the way now, and cleans her wounds and passes out asleep.

CHAPTER 3:
Elizabeth’s dreams are troubled and when she wakes up she feels like shit. She feels weak and drained. As she recalls what happened in the alley, she remembers the unique fox, and seeing the image of Hu Man (tentitive name for the Huli Jing) just before that. Maybe it was part of her dream, or part of the traumatic experience, but she’s not sure. Also, she recalls feeling the strange aura that she felt when she was a young kid when she had found Carbunkle. The woman bothers her the most now, and she heads out in the evening to find her. Some of the foreign teachers (male!) tell her that she hangs out at one of the few foreign bars, flaunting it and picking up guys. So after taking their directions in Chinese, she heads out to one of the foreign bars.

CHAPTER 4:
Inside the bar, Elizabeth finds Man flirting among three guys and a pungent cloud of acrid cigarette smoke. Elizabeth orders a beer and studies the strange woman. She can definitely describe her as being foxy, and as the beer takes hold, she is more sure than ever that the fox and the woman are the same being. Halfway through a second beer, just as Man looks like she’s ready to leave with a rather big, broad, well off and rich western guy, Elizabeth stops her and begins to confront her. Elizabeth senses the strange aura the woman gives off but is unaffected, unlike the men. The woman, sudden enraged, drags Elizabeth out of the bar and warns her to leave her alone. Elizabeth, kinda buzzed, stands her ground and demands to know what is happening. Sensing no way out of the situation, Man drags Elizabeth to a nearby, extreamly seedy and rundown local bar. Most guys here seem to sense something more about Man and stay away from her. Man starts her tale.

CHAPTER 5:
Man tells Elizabeth the tale of the Elementals of the world. When the need for them is great, or when they are called often enough so that their “forces” are stuck in this realm, they are called “Chosen”. She explains her own entity and past. She is an inbreed of a 9-tailed fox father and Huli Jing mother. “Hu Man”, she explains, is a joke – a name that means “Savage fox” and in English, her desire to become Human. She also explains those who have attacked Elizabeth, describing them as Jiang Shi. She also explains that Elizabeth must stay cautious as there is a dark man running around, calling forth all the energies of this realm to bring forth the current Elementals and keep them under his control. Elizabeth hardly believes most of this, though some of it she knows is true albeit kind of hard to swallow. They part ways, Man getting Elizabeth in a cab back to the university just before picking up another, more local guy.

CHAPTER 6:
Several weeks pass with little incidence. Elizabeth becomes a bit more accustomed to the local culture and becomes more befriended by the other local foreign teachers. There are a few reports from time to time of some unfortunate local falling to the Jiang Shi, but Elizabeth doesn’t let on the secrets of the Chosen and Elementals. She becomes close friends with a Thai girl named <> who even carbunkle seems a bit attracted to. And she doesn’t question the little bird! Halloween approaches and the foreign teachers go out to have a party. They enjoy themslves and get rather piss-assed drunk. On their way out of the bar, down a few streets to who-knows-where, they hear a woman scream. Two of the guys run after the sound and not wanting to be alone, the others follow. They come upon a massive horde of the Jiang Shi, which have already mangled two young girls. They jump on the drunken teachers and begin to do damage. As Elizabeth is crushed by the weight of several of the elementals, she recalls seeing <> necklace of a strange lion with horns and wings. Before she knows what has happened, some large beast larger than a lion charges into the fray, scaring off most of the Jiang Shi. The form of a multi-tailed fox joins it, and Elizabeth and a couple of others manage to stumble away from the massacre.

CHAPTER 7:
The news reports the next day that the Halloween attack was probably conjured by anti-american terrorists or homeless, though no one can claim truthfully what happened since all the teachers were drunk. Elizabeth feels even stranger, and even Carbunkle seems to be a bit anxious by the feelings Elizabeth is having. For several days the victims are mourned, one among them who is <>. After two days, she takes it upon herself to call the young woman’s only family, a brother named <> back in Thailand. He takes the news bad as Elizabeth describes it as best she can without letting on she knows who the attackers are. HE hangs up. Rumor circulates that Man was also attacked and has been in the hospital. When she returns to the university, she does look a bit banged up, and a bit darker and more cautious in mood. After their first class back. Man hunts Elizabeth down and confronts her about the summoned Pixiu. Elizabeth has no idea what she’s talking about. Man also warns that the mysterious man is gaining strength and must be stopped. And she alone, nor the other Chosen, have the powers to do so – only a human who can summon the Elementals might be able to stop him. She begs Elizabeth to come with her to see the others for guidance and after several minutes of failing to get the woman to stop, Elizabeth agrees.

CHAPTER 8:
They both take a personal day and take a bus to some remote part in northern Guangdong among mountains. There is an abandoned housing area/village there, where the strange feelings Elizabeth has felt off and on are super strong to the point where she is dizzy and uncomfortable feeling. She follows Man to a very strange place deep inside and is met by a massive half-lion half-dog, Xiezhi. Immediately he challenges Carbunkle and Elizabeth and is barely stopped by Man who turns contstanly from woman to fox to upset the mut and attract his attentions. After a couple frantic minutes, a very solomn and strange creature, part oxen, part sheep, with the face of a wizened old Chinese man enters. The others cease the quarrel and become immediately respectful and obedient. The crerature turns and with Man help, introduces itself as Bai Ze, the only of its kind, the first Elemental, and the first Chosen, brought to the Earth by Man’s need to know of the unknowns and how best to protect themselves.

CHAPTER 9:
He relates his history, and the history and nature of Xiezhi. HE also identifies the small canary as Carbunkle, who is flattered. Man talks to him for a moment in Chinese, looking back and forth at Elizabeth. Bai Ze retrieves a massive collection of leaflets bound by leather thongs and explains that this is the replica of the Bai Ze Tu Huang Di – the Yellow Emperor – once wrote as Bai Ze related to him of the Elementals. Thought the original is gone, he still guards over this second copy, and shows Elizabeth a beautiful and ancient ink picture of the creature she saw in the alley – the Pixiu. He explains to Elizabeth she is a Summoner, and what it all means, and what the Pixiu means in nature and to her. She continues to deny it and continues to feel funny until the Bai Ze convinces her to try and exercise. BY doing so, she is suddenly able to summon the Pixiu again, only easier this time. Unable to believe, yet knowing what just happened, she requests to be taken back home. She needs time to think, especially after Bai Ze calls upon her to stop the evil that is growing, an evil that will eventually not only hurt or destroy mankind, but the Chosen as well. She returns to Zhongshan and tries to forget everything, but the things she has seen and heard in the past couple of months have made the world a much different place.

CHAPTER 10:
Several days after meeting the Bai Ze, a thai guy, <> comes calling at her dorm. HE introduces himself as the brother of <>. Almost instantly, he acts strange around her, even as she reluctantly lets him into her Dorm. He wants to know the details and explains he knows his sister, she wouldn’t be so easily overcome by several gang members or bums. She gives him the same story the news channels gave, and tries to convince him she doesn’t exactly remember what happened since she was too drunk at the time. After a quarrel, he goes away, claiming he will investigate his sister’s death on his own.
CHAPTER 11:
That night, she hears some racket going on just below her building’s window. She peeks out and sees several college boys making out with girls. Not careing about what they’re doing, but caring that it’s just outside her window and keepign her from sleeping, Elizabeth goes out to scold them. She feel strange energies again and notices that not only has Carbunkle woken to join her, but Man is among the crowd, making out with several of the rich students. All three sense the presence before Elizabeth and shoo off the crowd. Jiang Shi attack them, and as the boys and girls go running, Man becomes a fox, making comments, and Carbunkle attacks, and Elizabeth summons Pixiu while tyring to fend off as many as possible with a large stick. The Jiang Shi, only 10 or so, wisen up and are destoryed or chased off when a dark figure emerges from behind the shadow of a nearby building. He is very close to Elizabeth who swoons over the energies surrounding him, and he says something low and deep to her in a foreign tounge she is not familiar with. Suddenly, a large boa-like snake appears and begins to attack the 4 heroes, and it looks like they are losing when something else suddenly joins the fray.

CHAPTER 11:

I'm hoping to finish this piece early during NaNo and work on maybe doing another 50K piece, my sequal to last year's NaNo. **shrugs** We will have to see if I can get this one finished in time first!
